Duck Race Thanksgiving Dinner by SCS

So nice of SCS... SCS invited the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) who have supported the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007 for a Thanksgiving Dinner at Aromas. The dinner was wonderful... Although I was pretty busy with my studies at NUS, I marked it in my calendar and showed up for the dinner. Hehe...

From NYP, we have our director Mr John Tan, Mr Ong, Alvin, Zhi Yi, Jasmine and Wei Liang. I was there early, so I actually spent some time interacting with the other representatives from the other IHLs. All of them were so friendly...and I must say that all of them contributed with great effort to the Duck Race. So grateful to all... That's how we go about doing charity work...everyone contributes effort and resouces, and consequently, a stronger combined contribution results...

All of us received a certificate of participation from SCS. =) It was a great time spent at Aromas, chatting with the SCS Executive Council and catching up with one another.... :)

Here goes the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007

Wow ~ What a great day! Really enjoyable and memorable for me, and I believe for most of us who were involved in the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007 too. :)

Guest-of-Honour was Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Education & Second Minister for Finance. He was at the launch site to witness the start of the Duck Race. Before the launch of the actual duck race, there were speeches delivered by the Singapore Computer Society (SCS) President, Mr Wilson Tan and the FSC as well... This was followed by the presentation of plaques for the Top Fund Raisers, Sponsors and Co-sponsors. My NYP School of IT Director, Mr John Tan, was there to receive the top Institute of Higher Learning Fun-raiser plaque, and our Deputy Director, Mr Lai Poh Hing, went up to receive the trophy for great contribution to the duck race. I got the Top Student Fund-raiser plaque. :) I thought the trophies with the duckies were so lovely... There were ducks with bright orange beaks which I have never seen before. Hahaha ~

At the start of the duck race, the cute little rubber duckies were tossed into the Singapore River...it was almost perpetual...I thought it was never going to end... And from my view, I was impressed by the scene... As more yellow ducks were floating on the water surface, it seemed like a huge portion of the area was covered in yellow, a beautiful scene in fact. At that juncture, I was already filled with great satisfaction and surprise as this was my first time watching it on the spot. Mr Ong, Ze Rong, Zhi Yi and Regina were there at the launch site to support the Duck Race as well. :) In fact, all of us were astonished with the sight. We also took several shots on it.

Ms Kwa and her hubby were on the go...hahaha ~ Both of them were at the Blue Room of the Arts House guiding the beneficiaries... Some SCS staff were there to coordinate the programme on that side too... I wasn't around to help at first, but I sensed the wonderful mood over at their venue. Later, I joined in the fun in guiding the beneficiaries at the carnival along the river side as well as at the Asian Civilisation Museum.

The beneficiaries really enjoyed themselves throughout the day's event. I could tell from the smiles and their faces, both the young and the elderly. :) Thanks to Alvin, Sitti, Wei Liang, Ze Rong, Zhi Yi and Regina and all the others who have helped us greatly in the duck race event on Sunday. It was really a success. =)

And the plaque I got was very nice... I truly like it a lot. :) Hehex... It's now in my NUS hostel, together with the string of 5 coloured rubber duckies... Will always remember this event.....

Outdoor Promotion at Toa Payoh Hub

Back from our outdoor promotion of the Duck Race over at Toa Payoh Hub... At first I thought it was Toa Payoh HDB Hub... but actually it was Toa Payoh Hub and near the NTUC FairPrice. Haha ~

Anyway for today... Ms Kwa, Cindy and I were "on duty", we had actually volunteered to help out for the day...Last outdoor promotion anyway. ;) We were given permit to carry out our promotion at Toa Payoh Hub near the NTUC FairPrice, so we wandered around that area.

I would especially like to comment on some members of the public who came forward to support the Duck Race from us. There was a girl who approached Ms Kwa and she bought 6 tickets and 6 souvenir ducks right away. =) And another lady whom I sort of going to approach...but in the end I think she was the one approaching me instead...Haha!! She told me that she has been very supportive of this Duck Race in previous years and has also been collecting a series of coloured rubber duckies in her home. She adopted a racing duck from us and bought a rubber duck with blue beak which she felt that she had not collected one with this colour...

However, during the start around 12pm...sales wasn't that good. Note sure why... Maybe more and more people have heard about the duck race and some have already adopted a duck for this year's SCS Great Singapore Duck Race? Hahaha... =D

Yup... Anyway, thanks to all of you who have adopted a duck from us, especially during our outdoor promotions in various areas around Singapore over the past weeks. Also thanks Cindy for joining us at Toa Payoh Hub this afternoon. Hehex... Me starting semester at NUS next week le...seldom get to see you all le...

Our Last Outdoor Promotion for Duck Race?

Hey peeps...

We are going to have another outdoor promotion...and this might be the last one for us... basically... exams are coming for most of the student volunteers...and the best reasons... we are on the last lap towards completing our 3000 Adoption Certificates for this SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007 student chapter contribution from NYP. ;)

Well... not to be too confident yet... we still got to assess how many Adoption Certificates we have left with us and how we are going to plan to reach out to whoever we can this remaining days... =) Tough... Yeah, but can do it...base on our abilities and experience for weeks since we had taken up this meaningful project. :)

Alright... so this Sunday... We will be at Toa Payoh HDB Hub, around the NTUC there... haha ~ We have obtained permit for that location already so we can carry out of outdoor promotion. :) For those of you who so happened to drop by there for meals or break from your exam study marathon... do come and support us ok... hehex...

Promotion at NCS

Melvin and I went down to National Computer Systems with Mr Ong in the afternoon to assist SCS in selling the Adoption Certificates and souvenir ducks. So glad that the response from those colleagues from NCS were cooperative in supporting the duck race. Some of them even helped to promote the sales at the booth for that 2 full hours. So nice of them... =)

I thought that the booth was strategically located in a rather good spot during lunch time when most of the staff at NSC proceed to the level 6 cafeteria for lunch. Sometimes, there was even quite a huge crowd at the booth. I also felt that the transparent vase was a very good container to store the duckies...haha ~ I realised that almost everyone who adopted a racing duck also added on $5 for a souvenir duck.

We also made some sales over at level 1 area near the Bistro. There wasn't any crowd, but there were staff who were going out of the building for lunch or in transit for meetings. So sweet of those who stopped by or even approached us to buy the duckies from Melvin or me. Most of them have heard about the Duck Race in Singapore for the past years and are also supportive of the upcoming final Duck Race at the Singapore River next month.

Just within 2 hours of lunch time from 12 to 2pm, SCS managed to sell all the Adoption Certificates and duckies set aside for this promotion over at NCS. Very good job to all ! :)

More Upcoming Outdoor Promotions?

Hey!! We are doing very well... Keep it up.. =)

I heard there are more upcoming events for outdoor promotion of the Duck Race... but they have yet to be confirmed...

Anyway, we could be having the promotions at locations such as Ang Mo Kio Hub, Toa Payoh HDB Hub...etc... In fact, we almost had some outdoor promotions at Hougang Central and Jurong Country Club last week... however we were not able to obtain the permits in time, thus we had to forego those occasions. But it's alright... as I said...we are doing well so far and just a little more will do. =)

To all student volunteers... Keep up the team spirit in this duck race and All the Best in your upcoming exams. =P

Duck Selling at Xinghua Primary

Hey! I'm back in my Primary School...not just for relief teaching but to sell ducks as well. HAha ~ Was there for 2 days on 24th and 30th July... Met up with the teachers to have a good chit-chat session with them before I start by studies at NUS.

Most of the teachers adopted a duck... Some had taught me in the past, but most of them I got to know through relief teaching for the past few months in Xinghua Primary. In fact, many of those teachers who taught me during my primary school days have retired from teaching... But I contacted 2 of them to support the Duck Race. HAhaha ~ and guess what... Mr Lin Min bought the whole book of 10 Adoption Certificates. So supportive. ;) And thanks to Mr Ng HM who supported in this event greatly too... he was my Pri 5 & 6 form teacher, a very kind teacher and a wonderful person.

I didn't manage to catch some familiar staff I know like Mrs Gina Chen. Saw her so busy at Xinghua. HOD of Maths, so much work for her to settle. Haha... And Mr Roger Tan, the HOD of PE / CCA / Aesthetics was away on course. He was also my former English teacher in Pri 3 when he started working as a teacher at Xinghua Primary. In fact, I also met him at Hougang Point NTUC FairPrice Supermarket few days ago when I was there for a meal before giving tuition around that area. Hahaha ~ Oh well... but I guess these staff will also support if I approach them. :) haha ~

So to all Xinghua staff who have supported the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007... Thank you so much!! Wish you all good luck for your duckies during the race on 9th Sept. HeeX... (",)

Outdoor Promotion at Marine Parade

My team of student volunteers from the School of IT were at Marine Parade for the outdoor promotion this time. There were 2 shifts for the day... Mr Yip and I were there throughout the day to coordinate the event...

We did not have a booth this time, so more challenging in promoting the duck race event... but I thought it saved us some of the logistics handling too. haha ~

There was a moment when the sky was overcast and then it started to rain cats and dogs for some hours in the late morning... I managed to approach some who were seeking shelter from the rain to adopt a duck. :) Oh ya!!! And right at the start when we began our operation...I met a SBM lecturer whom I know through my ex-President of NYP GEO Council. Haha ~ He had bought already, good!!! :) I was also working with Celine in some ways when she came over to assist us in the duck race promotion. :)

I am thankful to those who had other commitments like NDP rehearsal and project work, and yet still devoted some time to assist us in the outdoor sales... I think Ze Rong did a rather good job in selling...Another good salesman we have. ;) His team of girls were also rather committed, they all had a great team spirit. I realised they actually motivated each other in selling... Just like how Isaac and his friends worked together. :)

Although I was not feeling very well, having running nose for almost the entire day... I still managed to carry out my responsibility and enjoy the occasion. ;)

Outdoor Promotion during Project Cool Running cum Kebun Baru Family Day

The moment I woke up early in the morning at 5:40am...I heard patters of rain outside and my spirits dipped... The outdoor sales today was at Bishan Park and we were expecting quite a huge crowd to be at the park for the morning walk-a-jog and the family day event. However... it was raining!! And I was really hoping that the rain will subside soon...

Anyway...back home from the half day's outdoor sale at Project Cool Running cum Kebun Baru Family Day at Bishan Park. Having slight headache now, probably due to the change in temperature - hot/cooling...all the way.. Haha...but the effort put in was worth it. And I think overall we all had quite a good time, and sales of the duck race certificates and the souvnir ducks were reasonable, considering the wet weather.

Thanks to my fellow juniors, Hong Xiang and Alvin, who volunteered to assist us in this outdoor event... :) I really think you both did an excellent job.. :) You have the spirit there, and you all did your best all the way even when you were starting to feel tired after some hours. Thanks! :)

Alvin Lu and I were there early to set up with Mr Ong and Ms Kwa, our lecturers-in-charged. Another lecturer from the School of IT, Ms Sin, was there to support us as well. :) Thankfully, the rain sort of stopped once we reached Bishan Park. We had to wipe the tables allocated for our booth as they were wet due to the rain which sprinkled in despite having tent shelters. After about 45mins of setting up, we were all ready to start work. ;) That was when we dispersed to different areas around the family event at Bishan Park to reach out to different groups of people or individuals.

I saw our PM - Mr Lee Hsien Loong...so close to our booth!! :) But he didn't visit our booth though... Haha ~ Seeing him in such an outdoor event for families, I think he such a spotty person... he is exactly the same as what I see him on TV. Haha ~ Friendly and sociable...mostly interacting with little kids and the parents of the families.

Hmm... Probably, we have 1 more outdoor sales to go..this time at Marine Parade... Check out the blog for details of it. ;)

Duck Selling at NYP Corporate Side

HeeX... Finally, I went to promote the duck race to those staff situated at Blk A of NYP Campus. Quite a number of them... And yes, they supported. :) hAha ~ I don't really know many of them...but they are so friendly people.

Thanks Hwee Ming for adopting a duck during Graduation Week...so nice of you...really go to the booth at NYP Lounge to support us. ;)

Yup... 2 more days to Project Cool Running cum Kebun Baru Family Day at Bishan Park. We'll be there from 8am till 1pm+... :) See you all there...

Upcoming Outdoor Promotion at Bishan Park

I've just obtained more information from Ms Kwa regarding the arrangement for this Sunday's outdoor promotion at Bishan Park... It's confirm!! Permits for the event are settled now, thanks Ms Kwa for that. We are going to set up a Duck Race booth for the event - Project Cool Running cum Kebun Baru Family Day which will be held on 22nd Jul 07 (This Sunday). PM Lee will be there this time... Interesting right? Meeting these political leaders one by one...

Similarly, we will be having our Wheel of Appreciation at our booth... Oh, that reminds me...Time to sort out and pack up the items to be given out to those who support the duck race on Sunday... And yes, to brief the student helpers to get them ready for this Sunday's event. Ok, better get going... (",)

Duck Selling at SA Office

Haha ~ Went to Student Affairs Office to sell some ducks today... So supportive of some of the staff who had already bought from other organisations and yet they still buy from me. :) Thanks so much... ;) And thanks to Ms Janette Ang for her collection of coins which added up to $15 to adopt a racing duck and obtain a purple souvenir duckie. Hehex ~ (",)

Gathering Session for Student Volunteers

We had a gathering for the student volunteers who helped us with the duck race sales so far... both for events within NYP as well as outdoor events outside NYP.

Thanks for those of you who attended this gathering... You all were so attentive when I was going through my observations and opinions of the duck race promotion which we had accomplished so far. I thought that you are a bunch of jovial people who have a heart of giving and helping in any way you all can for charity events. I guessed it's also good to know each other better, considering the fact that we all come from different courses and mentor groups... Well done to all! We did a good job so far and let's us all keep up with the good work. ;)

Yup...And not forgetting...Thanks to Mr Ong for preparing some refreshments for the debrief session. ;)

Gathering for Student Volunteers on 11th July

I thought that it would be good if we could have a little get-together session for the various student volunteers to meet up for some sharing and a catch-up with one another... I talked to my lecturer about it and he was supportive of the idea. ;) And we will do that as soon as we can, since we had just completed some specific promotions for the Duck Race, and that my juniors' semester project deadlines and exams are drawing near.

To all student volunteers who have helped out in all those promotions for the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007... Please take note of the details for the gathering...

Date: 11th Jul 07
Day: Wednesday
Time: 3:30pm
Venue: L.326

Light refreshments will be served. ;)

See you all there...

Outdoor Promotion during Tanjong Pagar GRC Fiesta

Tanjong Pagar GRC Fiesta @ Orchard is here... Crowd was huge! Everyone was eager to be present at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza to catch the World Cosplay Summit Semi-finals. And furthermore if you realise... it's 7th July 2007 (07-07-07) today!!! Good date for a family outing at town huh... (^ v ^)

And guess what...the Guest of Honour was none other than Mr Lee Kuan Yew - Minister Mentor & MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC. =)

Yup...and as mentioned, we had a booth for this event this time... to promote the duck race of course. ;) See our booth in the picture --> Haha ~ We were there early to set up our items and equipment for use and display for the day's event. Due to the tight security checks at both entrances of the Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza, there were only few passer-bys near our booth in early afternoon before the event started, nevertheless, we managed to approach a few of them and related the duck race event to them.

People started streaming in at about 4pm...and the flow of people was almost perpetual. Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew arrived at 6:30pm and he delivered a speech about 'Transforming Singapore to Stay Ahead'.

Throughout the family event at Orchard Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza, our sales were promisingly better with individuals, couples or families approaching our booth to learn more about this year's Duck Race. Thanks to Isaac, our brilliant student 'salesman' volunteer, who had a rather enthusiastic approach in driving the promotion of the duck race event. I noticed him engaging very well with the public. HAha ~ Those others like Cindy, Alvin, Wei Liang, Jeremy and Thomas did a good job too. =) Some of the members of the public had tries of spin at our Wheel of Appreciation developed by our NYP School of Information Technology, whereby they obtained a little token of appreciation from us upon supporting the duck race. We were of course rather pleased with those who came forward to support us. :)

So glad that the some staff from SCS came down to our booth to support us as well... Hahaha ~ Tiring day for all of us, but a fruitful one as well... :) Thank you for all your help... and we are doing well... more exciting events to go... ... ...

SBM Graduation...Duck Booth

I was at the NYP Lounge for both the NYP SBM Graduation reception periods...Met a few new student volunteers from the Diploma in Business Enterprise IT who were there assisting with the promotion of the duck race.

I would say that sale performances for both sessions were better than most of the other days for graduation...perhaps it's the last day in the series of graduation ceremonies in the week? Haha ~ Also... I met my friends in the Business courses, and I managed to relate more about this duck race event to them. Rachel Ng and her friends from the Diploma in Media Studies & Management were at the reception area. I was so glad to see their spirit in giving...they were all quite hesitant in reacting at first, but then, they decided to split cost... each came out with $2 for $10 Adoption Certificate...so 5 people adopted a racing duck from me. Haha ~ It's still a good contribution to help 6 beneficiaries. Everyone chips in a little to support the duck race... Good team spirit as well... =P

And there was another remarkable scene... A man who walked straight into the NYP Lounge stopped abruptly and came towards us and drew out his wallet from his pocket. Wow ~ Remarkable isn't it? He had heard about the duck race and had always been supportive of this event... =)

Yup... That's all for the duckie sales during Graduation Week... Now it's time to focus on the next day's outdoor sales at Orchard Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza... Gonna see MM Lee tomorrow...as he will be the GOH for the Tanjong Pagar GRC Fiesta @ Orchard. Hehe... Those of you who want to see him physically....come for the event from 4pm onwards... At the same time, remember to drop by our duck race booth to support us. Hahaha ~ See ya!

1st 2 Days of Graduation Week...

Wow... Just had my graduation ceremonies for the past 2 mornings...

Most of the time, I was at my reception area at the Theatre for the Arts where the VIPs and Award Winners were ushered to. But I went up to NYP Lounge to interact with my friends and of course... to check out the situation of the duck race fund raising at the booth located there. Hehe...

Oh well... I was glad that everything was properly set up and running well. (",) Thanks to Alvin who had helped us with all the equipment setup for the duck race booth during graduation. The sales proceeds were slow-going but still alright. :) Our student volunteers were manning the booth. The location was quite a good one, just that the heat from the sunlight which streamed into the corridor could be quite warm, especially if stationed there for some time. Nevertheless, all our student volunteers were determined and resolute to do our best in all our activities for the duck race promotion, and it was carried out rather well, with some parents or graduates stopping by to enquire more about the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007 from us.

Thanks to those of you who had supported this event within these first 2 days of graduation. Another 2 more days of graduation, and we shall see how much we all had contributed for this Duck Race during the graduation week. Visit us at our booth if you have yet to do so... Hope to see some familiar faces...do something meaningful on your very last visit to NYP. Why not? :-)

Duck Race Booth on Graduation Week

Hi all, just to let you know... in relation to the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race event, we will be setting up a booth along NYP Lounge during Graduation Week from 3rd - 6th July 07. While having fun and a catch-up with our fellow friends and lecturers, I hope that you all will visit our booth and support us with adopting a duck and collecting some cute little duckies home for souvenirs.

You also can obtain a token of appreciation from us if you adopt a duck from us. :) You get to spin our developed Wheel of Appreciation and you get to obtain tokens ranging from 4 different categories.

So...bring your friends along with you... And see you all at the booth on Graduation Week. (",)

Outdoor Promotion at Orchard Road

Another day of outdoor promotion...and this time was at Orchard... Realise it's 1st Jul 07? It was the first day of GST hike and we all thought that it was going to have a huge impact on the public's spending...but well...the response from the public was still quite alright. :)

In my opinion, our team performed reasonably well...considering that Orchard is such a busy and hectic place even on weekends. However when we were there, we realised that there were also quite a number of students from Primary or Secondary schools doing charity fund-raising activities. Of course, we did have a kind of sensation that we had to compete with them...Haha ~ But I guess, all these are for a good cause. When any passer-bys were willing to donate to any of us, they are all supporting the beneficiaries from each of the different charity drives...and for this duck race, the proceeds of this charity event will go to support 6 beneficiaries representing a cross section of needs. Isn't that meaningful? :) When we adopt a duck at $10, the amount will be distributed to all 6 charity organisations...so it's like a one time contribution by each of us can benefit 6 benficiaries already. :)

Yup... So thanks a lot to those of you who had come forward to adopt a duck from us at Orchard Road... and to all the student volunteers...Thanks so much for assisting in this weekend promotion at Orchard. :) A good job done again. ;)

Outdoor Promotion at Bishan

A great day for the outdoor selling of duckies at Bishan estate. :) To most of us, it was our first time doing such a promotion and street collection in public, but it is meaningful...for charity. ;)

I was mainly stationed around the Bishan Community Library surroundings. When we first started we were quite shy, but after some time... we got the momentum and were able to approach the public easily. Well... generally, I think the public's responses were not bad. Those who have heard about the duck race were rather supportive in this event again this year and they came forward to give to the 6 beneficiaries by adopting a duck from us. =)

At other locations, such as the Bishan bus interchange as well as near the Bishan MRT station, some other groups of our student volunteers were actively helping in promoting the duck race to the public. Despite the hectic lifestyle of Singaporeans when they were in transition from one location to their destinations, some stopped to hear from us and gave what they could to support this year's duck race. :) Thanks to the kind hearts of these people...

I think those student helpers did a great job for the day... taking breaks at the library cafe whenever they felt tired from the long hours of talking and standing. Haha ~ But without those student voluteers, we wouldn't have reached out to a wide group of people in Bishan Central. I was in fact very impressed with some who carried out the sales with full of commitment, and getting some people from the public to support the duck race willingly from the bottom of their hearts.

Well done our student helpers. :) Thanks to those of you out there who have adopted a duck.

Tomorrow we have another outdoor promotion at Orchard Road... If you happen to go Orchard for shopping or dining...you may want to consider supporting the duck race...anyway, it's also the last time that we can support the Great Singapore Duck Race. Let this nation event be a success. ;)

See you all this Weekend!

Weekend is almost here... Some of us are going to spend some time helping out with the outdoor sales in both Bishan and Orchard Road areas. Thanks Ms Kwa for getting our permits ready for Street Collections this weekend. :)

I actually had a meeting with the staff in-charged of the weekend sales...we would like to ensure that we got everything right and we know our duties well enough to coordinate the outdoor sales. We briefed the student helpers who would be helping us during the weekend sales. I actually observed them and I thought the response to volunteer to assist us was good, and they appeared keen to be involved in this event. :)

I helped Mr Ong and Ms Kwa with managing the necessary paperwork and documents like the permits and registrations for each of the student helpers at the end of the day... Then we were all done and prepared for the weekend outdoor sales... =) It's gonna be fun!!!

Hey...so do come and support us ok?

30th June 07 (Saturday) --> Bishan (Surrounding Junction8)
1st July 07 (Sunday) --> Orchard Road

Can call your friends or families along... It's the weekend anyway... Family day and a good catch-up with our friends, right? =)

Start of Sales to Internal School of IT staff =P

Yeah... Quite happy... First time selling the duckies...and furthermore on my own. Went around to most lecturers' offices in my NYP School of IT to promote the upcoming SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007. I was delighted to see my lecturers most willing to support this event I am involved in. Haha ~ Yup, it was quite fun... at the same time I began to get used to the selling. Because when I handled the sales on my own for the first time... I did make careless mistakes, like forgetting to tear the portion of the Adoption Certificate for those who adopted a duck after filling in their contact details...and well...erm...forgot to collect money!!! ~ Ooops! Haha ~ HeeX... Nevertheless, I thought the accumulated sales from individual staff was good.. :) Thanks to some of you lecturers who supported by adopting more than a racing duck. =)

Had a picture with Mr Yap... Haha ~ He adopted 2 racing ducks and got a blue and red rubber duckies. ;)

After a round of promotion to the lecturers on both level 3 and 4 offices... I met up with my lecturers-in-charged of this Duck Race to discuss about getting my fellow juniors who were studying in NYP as student helpers for the outdoor sales. I guess we need some good student volunteers to promote this event to reach out to the public in those locations we had thought of. We planned to give a briefing the following day to the student helpers about the duck race outdoor selling.

Planning + Games for Promotions

What are some places where we could reach out to more people in Singapore? We actually brainstormed on a list of locations where we could carry out outdoor promotions of the SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007, so that the public will be more aware of this mega event and at the same time, give to charity for those who are intersted in supporting it. :)

Having the Wheel of Appreciation done in the process... some of us thought of the various categories of token of appreciation which we could distribute to the public who adopt a duck for charity. The public would actually get to spin the wheel on the projected monitor screen and thereby they would be getting a little token from NYP according to the category of the wheel spin.

Just a little add on fun to that, we would also be developing a game application like a tile image puzzle in which one could arrange the jumbled tiles back to their correct positions to obtain the original picture.

Peeps, look forward to see the outcome. =) They will be out in a few days time.. :)

Some Preparations Related to Duck Race Promotions

I was at NYP today to discuss some interactive games using Flash and Java to create for the Duck Race promotions. My team and I spent some time brainstorming and we came upon some interesting ideas... I was thankful that we had great designers among us - San San and Zhaojun. :) Thanks! They would be helping out with the designs we need in the applications. I drafted out the project schedule and we would start working on them over the next few days.

Jia you, team.. We can do it. ;)

SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007 is back!

SCS Great Singapore Duck Race 2007 is back! Some of you might have heard about the duck race from previous years. This is the 7th time that the Duck Race is being held at the Singapore River, and it might also be the last as the Singapore River will soon be converted to a reservoir. Wanna support this year? :)

When I heard about the return of the Duck Race in Singapore, I immediately felt that it is going to be an exciting event and yet in some ways, we all can contribute to the society by doing our part... I became rather keen to be involved in it and started working on this project not long after I was back from Cambodia for my Overseas Community Service Project upon graduating from the Diploma in Business Informatics from Nanyang Polytechnic.

Personally, I feel that this is a rather meaningful event in which it will benefit the society with the funds raise by the public for 6 beneficiaries, and at the same time, it is going to be a great day of fun and excitement for families and friends at the Singapore River. More details of the duck race can be obtained at http://www.scs.org.sg/scsduckrace... and look out for new updates regarding this event in this blog. Feel free to share your comments, views and opinions about this maga fun event over here... =)
